Background: The US-SHIP Live Haul Sanitation Group conducted a study at Prestage Farms in 2023 to assess the effectiveness of GPS and LSMS™ CleanTrailer in validating livestock trailer washes.

Problem:  A major US swine producer faced inaccuracies in counting outgoing piglets at their sow facilities, with manual methods potentially resulting in up to a 15% deviation from actual numbers. Problem:  A top Australian sheep producer encountered vendor overcharging issues, as vendors frequently overstated livestock numbers on National Vendor Declaration (NVD) forms, with over-declarations ranging between 2% and 8%.

Result:  Over 3% (conservatively estimated) savings in sheep purchase price by mitigating phantom sheep. Additionally, the system can pinpoint specific vendors consistently over-declaring their NVD livestock numbers.

Problem:  Transport stress causes an accumulation of lactic acid in transported swine, which can result in PSE (pale, soft, exudative) meat with significantly reduced economic value.
